Brendan Joel Hildebrandt is a director and cinematographer based in Perth, Western Australia. His work is driven by curiosity and a love of looking at the world from unexpected angles, spanning documentary, factual entertainment, and narrative fiction.

A graduate of the WA Screen Academy, Brendan completed a Master’s in Screen Studies with a specialisation in cinematography. His cinematography on the short film Spiral received a Silver ACS Award and the WASA/Channel 9 Award of Excellence.

Drawn to documentary storytelling, Brendan’s debut documentary Dr. Russell’s Imaginarium premiered nationally on SBS in 2021. He later created World of Curiosities (2024), a whimsical factual web series exploring collecting and unusual histories, which received the WA Screen Culture Award for Innovation in Web Series.

Brendan works as a freelance director and cinematographer, creating documentary and factual entertainment through Stir Films, while developing original narrative fiction under Whereto Productions.
