Brendan Joel Hildebrandt is a director and cinematographer based in Perth, Western Australia. His work spans narrative fiction and documentary storytelling, often driven by character and an exploration of wonder in the ordinary.
He completed a Master’s in Screen Studies at the WA Screen Academy, specialising in cinematography. His work on the short film Spiral earned him a Silver ACS Award and the Channel 9 Award of Excellence.
In 2021, Brendan’s debut documentary Dr. Russell’s Imaginarium premiered nationally on SBS Australia. He followed this with World of Curiosities (2024), a self-produced factual series sharing unusual history in a creative way, recieving a WA Screen Culture Award for innovation in web series.
He is currently developing a slate of original film projects and working freelance as a cinematographer.
