Brendan Joel is a cinematographer, director, and filmmaker based in Perth, Western Australia. .
He is passionate about authentic and creative storytelling, creating works that connect with viewers on an emotional level.
Over the past decade, Brendan has worked on a diverse range of creative and commercial projects, including films, documentaries, music videos and branded/commercial projects.
He completed a Masters in Screen Studies at the WA Screen Academy specialising in cinematography , receiving the Channel 9 'Award of Excellence' and a Silver ACS Award for his work on the short sci-fi film 'Spiral.' His commitment to capturing authentic, high quality visuals has led to work for brands including Officeworks, BP Plc and Qantas Mag.
In 2021, Brendan released his debut documentary, Dr. Russell's Imaginarium, which shared the colourful story behind a much-loved antiques store. The film premiered on SBS Australia on Christmas Eve and became available for streaming on SBS On Demand. Brendan also worked as a Camera Operator on the documentary series Desert Collectors (Season 3, Channel 7mate) and the feature documentary Red Dust Revival, shot at the historic Lake Perkolilli, WA. In 2024, Brendan released World of Curiosities, a self-produced factual entertainment series exploring curious items and their history.
Brendan continues to be inspired by projects that challenge him creatively, with a dedication to telling stories that connect with audiences in meaningful ways.
